I will start the story with my visit to the Sredna Gora mountain, in particular Starosel village. This area is rich of ancient historic, spa hotels and wineries, but I wanted to rather go to places which were rarely known and not the tourist ones. In the upcoming posts will write more about my other experience in the area, but now I begin with Staro Zhelezare – Cholakova Mogila.
I have to admit, that it was the first time that I heard of this site, although I visited the region many times. I was with my partner, who happened to choose the place. I went there without knowing anything about the particular sighting – The Cromlech.
Cholakova Mogila is discoved in 2001 by the Bulgarian archaeologist Georgi Kitov. He thought that this is a Thracian observatory the 6th century BC. It is megalithic structure, which consisted of 24 erected slabs different in size, laid out in a circle. The stone circle was later buried and made as a mound.
The site is generally abandoned and has nothing to do with the pictures in that are floating around in internet. Everything was in ruins, abandoned and apparently vegetation was actively taking back the place to its natural state. After we made the way through the thorns and bushes that were overgrown, we found ourselves in the center of something vaguely resembling a miniature Stonehenge like round structure.
I sat down and took my time to connect to the place. It worked. It was lovely sunshine day. I was surrounded by trees, forming a kind of a shelter or a confined space. I felt mysterious. I felt myself secure and wrapped.
I brought this time enough canvas and two big bags of paints. Very carefully, I started to paint, taking care to not leave stains from paint around me. Some strange feeling came over and I followed it and began to paint with combination of colors that I never used before.
I had a vision of people who communicated with aliens. They had no fear of the beings whatsoever, because the ancients were spiritually very pure and strong enough to withstand the energies. In that vision I knew that these stones were chosen and moved with thought. The people were dressed in long robes and probably participating in a ritual.
They made connection with a different world, populated with alien beings with cat eyes. The conversation taking place was wordless, but they knew each other very well.
I was pretty sure that the place was used to make communication with distinct races, like a telephone booth. They allowed me to be an eyewitness and listener without interfering and I in return painted.
I drew three pieces:
After I got back I made a short investigation about the place – scientists‘ assumptions and the sort. I was surprised, that in the beginning it was viewed as a quite promising place but is now desolate and unmaintained.
